Workshop: Introduction to Straw Plaiting (Beginners Course)

Ready to learn the art of plaiting? This in-person course is perfect for beginners looking to get hands-on experience. It’s amazingly calming and you’ll have fun too.

We’ll talk a little about the history of Straw Plaiting for the making of hats, you’ll be able to look at examples of work, books and artwork from the crafts hay-day (accidental pun there.) You’ll be guided step-by-step through the basics: - Intro to 3 ended plait starting with paper and moving on to straw - try your hand at a 5 ended plait - You’ll be supporting a Critically Endangered Heritage Craft! Come along, meet fellow craft lovers, and start your plaiting journey with us! P.S This is a workshop in progress (a workshop for a workshop, so to speak).

You will be assisting me with feedback and making sure I create the perfect workshop to take around the UK. This is why the price is just £7, which helps to cover my costs for materials. *There will be photography at this event and will ask permission before the session*
