Guided Tour: Civic Centre Clock Tower

Join a guide and ascend the Civic Centre’s iconic clock tower. Climb all 215 steps via a spiral staircase and discover the incredible story of its construction as well as gaining unparalleled views of the city. New for 2026: There will be an opportunity to be in the bell chamber while the bells are ringing (subject to the bells being in operation). Please be aware that the bells are loud and sound up to about 85 decibels. Ear defenders are recommended and will be offered. Please arrive ten minutes before the tour is due to start. Portions of the tour will be outside so please wear suitable clothing and footwear. The tour is suitable for people over 10yrs old and will last approximately 75 minutes. This tour is not recommended for people who have:

fear of heights mobility concerns difficulties breathing medication for heart conditions a poor level of fitness

For your information:

We will be ascending and descending the tower by a narrow metal spiral staircase. The tower has 7 levels and there are rest stops (floors) on the way. Suitable footwear must be worn (eg no open toe sandals or heels). There is no lift, the stairs are the only method of access to and from the tower. Please let your guide know of any pre-existing medical conditions before beginning the tour. Cancellations In the unlikely event of our having to cancel a session, we will offer a full refund.
