Stan Skinny and Footprints Jazz are back for another Spoken Word Cabaret, get down early because they’ve really been packing the house out recently – not one to miss! Every month, host Stan Skinny packs out Birkana cafe with language lovers and poets for an open mic and headliner. Not only that, Verbal Gerbil combines spoken word with live improvised music from Footprints Jazz, shaping a literary event unlike any other.

Our headliners range from leading spoken word artists and storytellers to rappers, electronic musicians, and folk performers. No two nights are the same, and we celebrate words in all their many forms. Whether you’re stepping up to the mic or soaking it all in with a drink in hand, Verbal Gerbil is about celebrating words in all their forms.

Come to listen, come to share, come to be part of it. All their nights finish before 10pm so, plenty of time to get zzz’s on a school night.
