About

Studio K is proud to offer a unique learning and development opportunity for our young dancers: The Studio K Junior Teaching Program. This program has been carefully developed to provide a safe and supported space for trainees to learn about the art and discipline of teaching dance while developing new skills that can be utilized both inside and outside of the studio. Our JTP runs throughout the academic year.

Each JTP student assists one class weekly, term time and attends group mentorship afternoons once a term. Our JTPs learn great leadership skills that can be used throughout life. They grow in confidence anf become pillars of the studio that the younger students can look up to.

In practical terms, the JTPs learn how to run warm ups appropriate for the level of class they assits, create strong bonds with the younger students, understand various teaching methods that can be applied appropriately. They also learn about safeguarding, dance styles, music and more. Bonus experiences include the opportunity to help on show days, and workshop days.

Perform on stage with your group if they need the extra help. We also offer termly, personalised feedback forms. Our JTPs, once ready, are in line to be offered work at the studio.

We are very proud to now be in a position where JTP students have joined the Studio K team. Mentorship afternoons happen once a term and have a mixture of practical learning and theoretical learning. We cover topics such as Safeguarding all the way to how to create effective termly class plans.

We also lean into developing technique and discovering more about dance genres, history and more.
