Join us every Friday, Saturday and Sunday* at 2pm for a guided tour of the Pontefract Castle site. In years gone by, Pontefract Castle was one of Britain’s most important castles. It was known as The Key to the North!
Learn about history where it happened. Walk in the footsteps of royalty and Civil War soldiers. Discover who built and lived in the castle.

See how it has changed over time. Tour is suitable for wheelchair users and visitors with pushchairs. Suitable for all ages.
Bonus tours on Saturday 1 August for Yorkshire Day. *Some exceptions due to occasional site closures - these will not be available to book online. Frequently asked questions How much do the tours cost? Tickets are £3.45 for adults, and £2.35 for children (5+).
Under 5s are free. Do I need to book in advance? We recommend booking in advance online to ensure tickets are available.
