Historically a great time! Is your child imaginative, curious, and energetic? Do they like being outside, trying new things, and getting hands-on with fun activities? Send them on a time-travelling adventure at Butser Ancient Farm and let them find out for themselves! A special one-off day this May half-term featuring the best of the Romans. Get hands-on with a wide variety of replica artefacts. Try mosaic making with real tesserae, peg-loom weaving, flint wall building, hear Roman fireside tales and try fresco painting. Fire a Roman siege weapon make your own replica gem and jewellery, take away a leather game pouch with the wooden dice you’ve punched yourself. Finish the day by playing ancient games with new friends. All set in and around the ancient structures of our unique site and led by knowledgeable Roman reenactors. Make the most of the activities running throughout the day, or use the variable drop off 9-10 and variable pickup 4-5, following our usual format. Run by knowledgeable and experienced educators who are DBS checked and First Aid trained.

Why join us? A special one-off, time-travelling adventure day this half-term for those aged 6 -13. Hands-on historic activities: mosaics, peg-looms, flint wall, fresco painting, Roman siege weapon, jewellery and gem, leather pouch and dice-striking, ancient games, and more. Flexible drop-off (9–10 am) and pick-up (4–5 pm) to suit busy families. Run by experienced, DBS-checked, First Aid-trained educators in a unique ancient setting.

More information What should I wear? Something practical! Comfortable shoes good for the outdoors, plenty of layers if it's cold, wet weather gear if it's rainy, and clothes you don't mind risking getting a little mucky. This workshop will likely be held both inside and outside, except in the case of extreme weather. Should I bring anything to the day camp? You will need to bring a packed lunch, snacks, and a water bottle Is there parking? Yes! We have plenty of free and accessible parking. If you're worried about accessibility, please email [redacted] for advice. Where should I go on the day? Just head to the entrance kiosk and show us your ticket as normal. We'll help with where to go after that!
