About

Join us for a brand-new event as we celebrate the magic of the Summer Solstice with us on Saturday 20 June, from midday to sunset. Set within the beautiful Fenland landscape, surrounded by wildlife and ancient history, this special day brings together storytelling, creativity, nature and tradition in a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. There are festivities and activities on throughout the day including in the Solstice craft marquee where children and families can get creative with activities such as Celtic face painting and making ribbon wands (midday–6.30pm). Throughout the day, Nene Coppicing & Crafts will be demonstrating traditional heritage skills, including hurdle making, wool spinning, willow weaving, spoon carving and rustic pole-lathe turning. Plus, watch lively performances from Coton Morris and Granta Blue Morris Dancing Groups. Enjoy storytelling in the roundhouses with Michelle Bullivant and Dave Tonge and take part in guided nature walks with our ranger around Flag Fen. Take part in Norse-inspired solstice activities with Myrkvidr Temple, including crafting sun wheels and herb bundles, as well as grounding experiences and drum immersions. As the day draws to a close, you can join a nature-centred Solstice Ritual and Ceremony to honour the longest day of the year. Solstice Ritual & Ceremony (7pm - 9pm) As the day draws to a close enjoy a guided, nature-centred experience honouring the longest day of the year. The evening begins with a sumbel, a moment to share gratitude for what has supported us and to speak aloud the intentions we wish to carry forward. This then flows into a full midsummer ceremony dedicated to the solstice sun, where offerings and blessings can be placed into the fire, tended by Myrkvidr Temple.
