About
This three-day course brings us face to face with the face! Seeing and doing through the eyes of abstract portraiture. The face’s physicality, emotion, symbolism, and suggestion are a direct connection to the viewer.
What’s lies beneath, the unseen, emotion, vibe and soul is brought forth in this multifaceted, layered class. Contemporary artist Rob Unett, a bold, intuitive and provocative tutor directs participants to experiment with their visual language through mark-making, media exploration, traditional, contemporary methods, alongside their personal process.Working directly from a subject (model), participants study the face via an abundance of techniques that Rob uses in his own practice.
Immersing the group in media, whether solo or in combinations of painting and drawing to capture facial expression, silhouette and form.Traditional techniques will be challenged by modern thinking and doing approaches to discover new colours, textures, shapes, light and aesthetics.
We will build a body of work that, during a period of group reflection, will open up new areas of opportunity and wonder in our practice.
