ORIGINS x SCENE Northern Shorts Showcase

Discover the best emerging LGBTQ+ filmmaking from across the North of England in SCENE's Northern Queer Shorts Showcase. With the line-up to be announced, this showcase celebrates the bold new voices shaping the future of Northern queer cinema. Vote for your favourite film after the screening, with the winner taking home the SCENE Northern Queer Short Film Audience Award 2026. This event is presented in partnership with ORIGINS , a regular short film night taking place at COLONY King St where filmmakers, artists, and creatives of all backgrounds can meet, mingle, and spark new collaborations. Whether you’re a director, designer, producer, or simply a lover of great storytelling, you’ll feel right at home. Drinks and snacks are on us - just bring your curiosity (and maybe a mate or two). Colony is a Manchester coworking operator, founded 2017 by Aaron Ezair and Alex Campbell, running seven venues across the city for freelancers, creatives and businesses.
