About

As the University of Glasgow marks its 575th year, this focus exhibition asks a challenging question: what (and who) is worth remembering? For more than five centuries, staff and students have passed through the University of Glasgow. Some are remembered but many are forgotten.

This small exhibition invites us to look beyond the familiar narratives of achievement and prestige, and to consider what else the University’s history contains. Created by students from the University of Glasgow's Museum Studies MSc, What is Worth Remembering? brings together objects that rarely appear in commemorative displays. The items highlight stories and legacies that have often been decentralised or overlooked.

Some may spark curiosity or nostalgia; others may prompt discomfort, reflection or anger. If we are defined by what is remembered about us, then much is at stake when we remember the past. Open 10.00am–5.00pm, Tuesday–Sunday.
