Little Fishes Session 1

Little Fishes is a warm, friendly welcome for babies and little ones up to school age — a relaxed space where your child can play, explore and make new friends, while you enjoy a proper cuppa and the company of other parents, grandparents and carers. Whether you’re a first-time parent looking to meet others, a childminder with little ones in tow, or a grandparent on nursery duty, you’ll find a gentle pace, a friendly face and no pressure to be anywhere or anyone in particular. We run two sessions every Thursday during term time — the first from 9:00am to 10:10am and the second from 10:20am to 11:30am — so you can choose the slot that fits best around naps, school runs and the rhythm of your week.

Both sessions offer the same warm welcome and full programme, and you’re welcome to come along to whichever suits you. Each session, you’ll find toys laid out for every age and stage, from baby-safe toys through to toys for older toddlers. Our craft table offers a new activity every week and there’s always a play-doh table for sticky, squishy creativity.

We round things off with a short singing and story time, a lovely way for the children to wind down together before home. When the weather’s kind, we throw open the doors and head outside where we have plenty of outdoor toys to enjoy. Refreshments are included in the entry price.

Tea, coffee and squash, and do try the homemade cakes — they’re baked fresh by our volunteers and are something of a local favourite. The cost is £2 for one adult with up to three children, £1 for each extra adult, and 50p per additional child, which keeps things affordable for families and easy to manage for grandparents bringing several little ones along. Your child’s safety and wellbeing are our priority.

All of our helpers are DBS checked, and we work within the safeguarding policies of the parish. We warmly welcome families of all backgrounds, faiths and none — there’s no expectation to be a churchgoer to come along and enjoy the morning with us. More than anything, Little Fishes is a chance for the children to have fun and for you to take a breath, share a cake and connect with other parents and carers in the local community.
