About

This evening, we are really excited to welcome Anna Patrowicz, of Nabeeth Wines, to Edinburgh and talk to us about some of the wines produced in Palestinian terroirs, by Palestinians. Anna is also the Sommellier at Akub, London's first modern Palestinian restaurant, where she works with the owner, Fadi Kattan, himself a Palestinian. Through each glass, Anna explores the terroirs of Palestine with curiosity and a deep connection to the people and their stories.

She has taken a break from the restaurant, to come and speak to us! On first coming across Palestinian wine, it seems incongruous. These lands are fought over - possibly even more so than Lebanon's Beka'a Valley.

Access between vineyard and winery has the potential to be cut off. Not to mention that the majority of the population is Muslim. And yet, Vinum Gazetum was produced in Gaza and exported around the Roman Empire, until the 6th Century, following hundreds of years of viticulture, in the region.

Tonight, we shall be introduced to wines made from indigenous grape varieties that we are extremely unlikely to have heard of, previously. This will be a voyage of discovery for our palates. Let's make the most of it!
