An in-person Iyengar yoga course, suitable for anyone with some previous yoga experience and open to beginners, led by Elspeth Campbell, Iyengar yoga teacher. Being guided by an inspired teacher in a small group (12 people max.) enables you to benefit from high-quality teacher attention. For queries about whether the course is suitable for you, please email Elspeth elspeth@elspethcampbell.com Please check and complete our Yoga health questionnaire. Iyengar yoga is a traditional form of yoga with focus on mobility, balance, strength, suppleness, alignment and fun. If you're not flexible, don't worry, the use of props and experienced teaching techniques provide options for adapting your practice. Elspeth offers yoga for emotional balance while working progressively to establish sound basics with asanas (poses), pranayama (breathwork) and restorative relaxation. Your energy is channelled through the dynamic of poses, contemplation is generated through focus on breath and balance, relaxation allows you to sustain the effects of practicing yoga to leave class feeling refreshed and vibrantly calm. Yoga is for everyone, it is an investment in self-care that enables emotional regulation. "Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured and to endure what cannot be cured" B. K. S. Iyengar (1918 - 2014). He systematised over 200 classical asanas and many pranayama techniques and introduced the use of props such as blocks, bricks, belts and blankets in order that students of any level can work safely and effectively within the practice. Please note: this course is not suitable for under 18 year olds. Our bodywork studio is fully equipped. Do wear comfortable clothing suitable for the gym and be prepared to practice barefoot. Elspeth is a Level 1 Iyengar yoga teacher with 10 years' experience, having practiced Iyengar yoga for 20 years and Hatha yoga for 12 years previous to that. Elspeth joined Cambridge Iyengar Yoga in 2018 having moved from Wimbledon, London where she trained with Julie Hodges.
