CFF: Viva

We have celebrated—and welcomed as a guest—actress Aina Clotet, but it thrills us to present her directorial debut.

Clotet also stars as a woman confronting life after breast cancer. Her hunger for desire, freedom, and intensity unsettles the world she has carefully built.

Viva is a tour de force: intimate, fearless, and alive to the richness of female desire. No wonder its story demanded a woman’s perspective to be told.

Clotet’s gaze resists the conventions of male-dominated cinema, presenting illness, sexuality, bodily autonomy, and personal reinvention as territories to be redifined, without apology or simplification.

The Cambridge Film Festival is presented by the Cambridge Film Trust, a registered charity widening access to cinema and supporting emerging talent through film, education and community programmes.
