About
Imagine if your job combined black holes, the birth of the World Wide Web, and the potential destruction of the universe. For these scientists, it does.
At the end of WWII, CERN was founded to prevent another atomic disaster from ever taking place, under the slogan “science for peace.” But upon the 2022 invasion of Ukraine, cooperation with Russia was halted, causing researchers to wonder about the role of politics in scientific cooperation.
Mixing interviews with CERN scientists and archive footage, The Peace Particle shows the inner workings of nuclear research at a time of political instability.
Cambridge Film Festival is presented by the Cambridge Film Trust, a registered charity widening access to cinema and supporting emerging talent through film, education and community programmes.
