About

After a fall from its mother fruit, Papaya’s future seems determined: reach the ground, grow roots, become a tree.

But curious to explore the world, the little seed refuses to conform to the laws of nature, and breaks free. Its journey will take it across the wonders of the Brazilian jungle and out of it into a barren, toxic landscape increasingly destroyed by deforestation.

From refusing to take root to struggling to return back home, Papaya is a captivating coming-of-age tale about resistance, home, and learning to love the changes within us.

The Cambridge Film Festival is presented by the Cambridge Film Trust, a registered charity widening access to cinema and supporting emerging talent through film, education and community programmes.
